Spring Update

Spring 2016

When I started my website a little over a year ago I had a definite vision of what I wanted it to be. I have held true to what I am trying to accomplish but I have hit a few road blocks where I believe some extra knowledge will assist me with building what it is that I want to build. So I am currently very occupied with learning what it is that I need to know. I have several articles ready to go but my focus has been pretty single pointed towards the larger aim of this website.

I would love to be able to stay on top of everything but I have built the scope of my website to the point that if I can't spend my full attention in my leisure time on the maintenance and updating of it then I will fall behind in various ways. This is why I have enabled registration on the various parts of my website, so that anyone who wishes to use the tools of the internet to promote natural causes, they may do so here.

Zika, GMOsquitoes, and Tdap Vaccine | Theories and Facts

Zika, GMOsquitoes, and Tdap Vaccine | Theories and Facts

Zika, Vaccines, and Microcephaly

The zika-virus story is catching public attention with its recent excursion into the United States. Now having been identified in at least 13 states, including several northern states, though the transmission of zika has not yet happened in those states. The symptoms of zika are a little misleading because generally the course of the illness is similar to a cold, (aka not a big deal). While it certainly seems as if there is a lot of fear mongering going on surrounding zika, it does have one major risk associated with it, and that is, supposedly, microcephaly. Microcephaly has stricken Brazil over the last year and it's indication (small head/brain) in infants does have a correlation with the zika virus, though causation and even association have not been entirely forthcoming.

On the other hand there is also a correlation with far more literature behind it that is not really being reported on. The Tdap vaccination was recently added to the schedule for pregnant women. Vaccines all have side effects, and there have been cases throughout their history where they have been downright destructive, in fact far more commonly than most people know.

Idaho Officals Break Law | Confuse Wolves for Elk

Idaho Officals Break Law | Confuse Wolves for Elk

Idaho Breaks Law, Environmental Groups Worried

AwN | Deputy Director of Fish and Wildlife Ed Shriever (Directors Office - (208) 334-3771,) due to incompetence or malice, has allowed 4 wolves to be radio collared despite the fact that it is illegal. In response to questioning he replied, "I accept full responsibility for this. We made a mistake in not clearly communicating mission limitations to one of our helicopter crews. We will refine our procedures to make sure this doesn’t happen again."Apparently while tagging dozens of elk they just happened to think wolves were roughly the same thing. Nevermind that they were in a rush to complete the elk collaring mission to accomplish it before a legal challenge by EarthJustice; the problem is that environmental groups suspect the intentions of Fissh and Game is to locate, accrue data, and use this information to assist in the killing of entire wolf packs.

Tim Presno, attorney of EarthJustice released the following statement, "(Fish and Game) rushed to complete its operations in the first three days after the Forest Service issued a permit, before the court could even consider whether that action is legal. Now we learn that the state compounded its degradation of wilderness character by taking action that even the Forest Service did not authorize – collaring wild wolves in the wilderness in addition to 60 elk."

Balancing Wildlands with Liberty

Balancing Wildlands with Liberty

Balancing Wildlands with Liberty

AwN | I have advocated liberty on this blog before, and I also commonly reference the government failing to protect the wild environment while being charged with the duty to do so. If you have similar proclivity you might think there is a contradiction. For sure, on its surface there is a problem reconciling the belief that people have basic rights to their land, and that they are also a danger to their land via ownership.

The problem is that when these groups like Ammon Bundy's and the American Lands Council want control of Federal Land all they really want is the right to exploit that land. When they demand the right to land, what they really want is to remove public protection of the land for their private interest and profit. The problem here is both human nature, which has a certain element of greed, and the capitalist imperative to earn large sums of money by any means necessary. Even when it is not 'large sums of money' but merely a living, you will still find that it is the capitalist structure driving them to the exploitation of the land (along with the aforementioned greed). I doubt you would find too many subsistence farmers among the lot of 'liberty activists' toting guns to federal lands for a standoff. That day is not here, nor is America overpopulated enough to justify destroying forest for 'subsistence farming'.

Her administration will be forever remembered for its retaliation against employees investigating sexual harassment claims, and her June response to the Flint water contamination:

Water News Roundup, January 2016

Water News Roundup, January 2016

Water News Roundup, January 2016

AwN | A lot of times I cut out some interesting topics and news because I don't have the time to give a rundown of each topic. I think by combining some of the more interesting, (or threatening) topics, I can present a more completete picture of what is going on. Though I won't always be offering as much analysis of the topic. On a similar note, I think I will be trying to follow a schedule for the roundup posts and release them on the 15th and at the end of the month.

Microbead Ban, Pollution Tracking, GMO Salmon

I am leading with the banning of Microbeads in the U.S. I reported on this back in September and it is a major relief that action has been taken, however, as the following article notes, there remains major work to be done.

Clean and Dirty Energy Roundup, January, 2016

The Energy Sector January, 2016

AwN | The energy sector is in a state of flux. Coal production is down, and so is the price of oil, largely due to the glut of natural gas from fracking. While earthquakes, air contamination, and water contamination are side effects of fracking, and natural gas still requires combustion (read: carbon in the atmosphere) for its usage, the cleaner energy sector is also making strides, and in some cases a lot faster than was expected.

There is probably nothing more important to the life of the modern person than the energy sector. It is both interesting and vital that people understand the nature of energy, what it is necessary for, and what the ramifications are. Energy is one of the news topics that I can be swamped by and so I choose to include it in a roundup post. I am putting these posts together to help people get an overview of what is going on in some of the most vital sectors for someone with an eco-mind.

Update | How the huge gas leak is turning California's Porter Ranch into a ghost town

Methane Leak Declared State of Emergency

AwN | The story of the methane leak in California is beginning to gain steam as now Governor Jerry Brown has declared a state of emergency. Thousands of people a fleeing their homes and many people are also claiming that they are becoming ill, while some experts are claiming that it is mere placebo or hypochondria. The leak is being compared to the BP oil spill, and while it is of a different type, and much harder to see, the comparison is not altogether unfounded.
