Dupont Proves America's Failures

Dupont Proves America's Failures

Dupont Flouts Humanity, and Toxifies Planet

AwN | For decades Dupont has covered up the effects of C8 used in teflon. They have since removed C8 due to mounting legal pressure, and yet in the end they still accrue more than 95$ million in sales every day. Are they responsible for cleaning the blood of 99.7 percent of Americans who now have C8 in their blood? Will they clean the sea turtles, polar bears, caribou, and walruses? Why is it that it is ok to bust every pot head and whistle blower and yet this corporation can completely alter the environment with a toxic chemical, and after a few slaps on the wrist be held no more responsible than you or I? What defunct machination of the human experience allows people to do these things and get away with it. In what sick and twisted part of the universe is it ok that a supposedly intelligent species allows a few men with vast profits on their mind to so thoroughly toxify the environment that clean up costs would be unimaginably high, although probably downright impossible. Dupont and the Chemistry of Deception

I believe this happens because there is no monetary reward for activism. While corporations can sit and wait out anything in their way, because in the end the bottom line will win out, people often can only muster the steam to fight for so long. Since there is no prize at the end of the road most of the good folks who care about the planet give up and the door is opened for whatever corporation to do whatever they want, until too many people have died, at which point they again need to sit and wait out opposition, who again will receive nothing for their opposition, and in turn, give up. The answer is to hold these people criminally responsible to a court of those in Accord with Nature.

People out of Accord with Nature 6 Days Earlier This Year

People out of Accord with Nature 6 Days Earlier This Year

Earth Overshoot Day, Sooner than Ever

AwN | Earth Overshoot day should be the saddest day of the year, but instead it goes by mostly unnoticed. It is the day that the demands of humans surpasses the ability of Earth to provide for those demands. Back in the seventies we started overshooting Earth's resources, nad last year was 6 days later than this year. This discrepancy is the single most important issue that exists, and the reason why I both created this website, and rail against all the global warming obsessions that exist. Nothing is important if humans continue to use more resources than the planet can provide. However, instead of hysteria at the coming collapse of the einvironment from ALL angles, the only somewhat consistent national story is global warming and the potential temperature over the next 10,000 years.

I hope all of you always consider what you are consuming, and its necessity. Until we radically change the way we live our lives each year will bring us closer to complete collapse of the human moderated eco-system. Youtube

Filling the Reservoir with Plastic... A Solution or a Problem?

Filling the Reservoir with Plastic... A Solution or a Problem?

City of Los Angeles Fills Water Source with Plastic

AwN | The City of Los Angeles has released 96 Million plastic balls into their reservoir in hopes to combat drought. That will be 96 million black plastic balls soaking up the Southern Californian sun and releasing their various petro-chemicals slowly but surely into the veins of Californians. Generally covering the water in such a situation as the everlong Californian drought, is a good idea, but I have to question the value of not only purchasing 96 million plastic balls, (not because of the money, but the environmental impact).

Why not float solar Panels?

There are fairly stable plastics, and I'll freely admit that I am not an expert on every chemical that is cleaved off by the sun in every type of plastic product, but I would have to wonder if putting a bunch of plastic in the sun, in the water reserve, is really a good idea. After 10 years the 35 Million dollar balls will need to be replaced, and you would have to consider why? Is the cleaving off of plastic particles suddenly an issue at 10 years or is that when the problem becomes visible rather than a trickle.

Big Berried Alien Fruit Flowered Dogwood

Big Berried Alien Fruit Flowered Dogwood

Japanese Dogwood

My Big Berried Alien Fruit Dogwood is one of my favorite trees. And yet there was a short period when I almost considered cutting it down for more sun. Every year the Dogwood gives a fantastic show of flowers followed by a big berry with little protruding stickers that ruin the external texture. The inside of the ripe fruit is very good, but the seed of minor significance, and that makes this a borderline useful fruit. However, when the chimpmunks eat all your peaches, its good to know there will be a good amount of high quality pulp available at the dogwood tree.

Cornus Kousa

This tree is growing perfectly in a highly shaded area along with mints, hostas, autumn olive, marshmallow, kiwi, shisandra, apios americana, and blueberries. It is in the understory of red maple, ash, and red oak. The plant pays for its way with its showy flowers, abundant flowers, and abundant berries even in semi-shade condition. Most plants and animals seem to cooperate with this tree, except that some animal seems to strip some bark while marking, cleaning, or scratching. I have a feeling it is birds, but it could be a small rodent.

The Definitive Guide to Avoiding Ticks and Lyme Disease

The Definitive Guide to Avoiding Ticks and Lyme Disease

The Definitive Guide to Avoiding Ticks and Lyme Disease

I spend a lot of time in an area of the United States that is not only full of ticks but also lyme disease. I have thought long and hard about how not to contract lyme disease and since I thus far have not, I figured it would be a good thing to tell people how it is that I do it. It weighed on me for a long time and I suspect it weighs on many of lovers of nature, afraid to get out and enjoy what they love. It is important to understand a little bit about ticks if you are to avoid them.

Artificial sweeteners cause heart failure, diabetes, high blood pressure and other health problems, study suggests

Another Artifical = Awful Article

Artificial Sweeteners

AwN | Concentrated sweetness is unnecesary. It is an addiction like so many other things, but often is not treated as such by our culture. Many people use artificial sweeteners as a substitute for sugar, but the facts are facts and they are both awful for you in any quantity. This article links artificial sweeteners with heart failure, diabetes, high blood pressure, and more!

I went to look up some of the common artificial sweeteners for this post and happened upon a MayoClinic article which states the following. Acesulfame Potassium (Sunett, Sweet One) (Equal, Nutrasweet) | Aspartame | Neotame | Saccharine (Sugar Twin , Sweet'N Low) | Sucralose | Advantame

"But according to the National Cancer Institute and other health agencies, there's no sound scientific evidence that any of the artificial sweeteners approved for use in the U.S. cause cancer or other serious health problems. And numerous research studies confirm that artificial sweeteners are generally safe in limited quantities, even for pregnant women. As a result of the newer studies, the warning label for saccharin was dropped." (Ignore this citation link) Isn't it nice that the FDA has your best interest at heart?

Space Mining Is Closer Than You Think, And The Prospects Are Great

Space Mining Is Closer Than You Think, And The Prospects Are Great

Not Enough Poisons to Concentrate on Earth?

Let's ship 'em in from space!

AwN | This article is sort of comical, and the author understands that. While asteroid mining is certainly a possibilty it is not likely to happen any time soon. In fact we are more likely to run out of rocket fuel before we ever do any meaningful mining in space. I'm sure some people see this pie in the sky and think, "Hey thats a great idea!" and if it was plausible currently, it may be, but the real demands of the real world will probably not allow this to ever happen, at least in meaningful quantities.

Changing Seasons Also Change How You See Color

Changing Seasons Also Change How You See Color

AwN | Frankly this is nothing new but it is still cool that scientists went ahead and confirmed that things are relative. It is like Heraclitus said, “No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man.” I do think its an important understanding though. Change is the rule of the universe.
